Meet the mind
behind the mindfulness

Hey, I'm Rae!  After years of working in the chaos of the culinary world, I began to see the trend of negativity that could potentially devour people. As my career grew, I saw myself being consumed by the negativity surrounding me. Still having a deep passion for cooking, I wasn't ready to leave the chef life behind me. At the same time, I wanted to help people see that there can be beauty in the chaos, beauty in every moment. I want to help people understand that happiness is a choice. And every day that we wake up, we are presented with the opportunity to choose happiness.

The culinary backstory

In 2014, I began my culinary journey at Schoolcraft College in Livonia, Michigan.  After graduating I was hungry for more (pun intended). In 2016, graduated from the Masters program at the Italian Culinary Institute in Calabria, Italy.

In the culinary world...I've done it all. I've worked as an Executive Pastry Chef, a private chef for A-list celebrities and I am currently the Director of the Italian Culinary Institute. I've been blessed to travel the world, cook at international events, and compete in international culinary competitions.

The mindfulness journey

I had a very important mentor tell me that "you must choose happiness every day. Only YOU can create your own happy." It took a few years after hearing that for me to really understand.

So I began doing the work. At first, I attempted this on my own by reading books and listening to podcast on how to meditate. The more in depth I went into this journey the more I saw my mind and my actions changing. This is when I decided to dig even deeper and signed up for my first MBSR course through Brown University.

I always knew that I wanted to help people heal through food, combining mindfulness and food was the perfect pairing. I've created Pause to help people heal through nourishing the mind, body and soul.
